NPI Community Service Platform (known as Enrichment Community Service Centre) undertakes entrusted public services as a showpiece in China. It aims to strengthen the community and mobilize community resources, introduce professional community-based NGOs and social enterprises, develop community services according to community’s needs, improve the quality of life for local residents, increase their sense of belonging, thereby reform the urban communities and building the social solidarity.

In the spirit of ‘Equity, Caring, Philanthropic’ and based on the needs of the community, the Center focuses on the following main areas: undertaking government entrusted community service project and building public service platform; training community social workers; strengthening community via capacity building programs; organizing various activities and projects.

The current Community Centre provides the following five types of services: The Seniors’ Club, Weaving Hope Workshop, Rainbow Paradise, Lohas Community and the Happy Zone for Cultural Activities.

The Seniors’ Club
The Seniors’ Club provides daytime services for local senior citizens in good health condition, to assist them better utilize their leisure time, motivate their learning potential, and develop social network, so that the elderly can continue learning and enjoy their life. An operational mechanism of self-management, self-service, and self-development for seniors is established.

Happy Zone for Cultural Activities
The Happy Zone for Cultural Activities conducts a big variety of cultural activities, which builds a platform for community members to form culture activity groups, participate and enjoy the recreational events. This program covers a wide range of services to meet diverse community needs using a “bottom-up” decision-making process. In additional to regular services, it also helps community members to form cultural groups, promote self-regulation and facilitate the development of these groups.

Weaving Hope Workshop
Weaving Hope Workshop is designed to provide training services for low-income female residents on handicrafts making. The project seeks to mobilize community resources, collaborate with handicrafts enterprises and handicrafts makers, employ low-income women and teach them the handicrafts making skills, help them to make money by selling the products, and ultimately help these women to help themselves.

Lohas Community
Lohas Community program serves local residents aged 25 to 40, mainly white collars. They are the backbone of the urban communities, but most of them are alienated from the community and lack communication and interaction with other community members. Lohas Community aims to effectively attract the younger generations to participate in the community activities first and then contribute to the healthy and sustainable development of local community. The program encourages young people to show their talents and integrate into the community.

Rainbow Paradise
Rainbow Paradise provides early education services and afterschool services for children aged 0 to12. The Early Education services for kids under 3 years old use professional methods to help children develop all-around talents and good personality. The afterschool service eases the difficulties faced by working parents in taking care of their children and helps schoolchild with their homework. To benefit the most children in the community, the program will remit service fee for low-income families to provide an equal opportunity for students from different backgrounds to enjoy the high-quality community service.

In addition to the general services, ‘Rainbow Paradise’ also invites social workers, children of different ages from families with diverse backgrounds to various community events, including crafts making, Hall games, picnic, charity Bazaar, community dialogue, international community interaction, family issues workshops and etc.
