The original CNPON was founded in 1998, committed to advancing the development of the Third Sector. CNPON promotes information exchange, NGO capability and accountability building through forums, training, assessment/ evaluation, consultancy, publishing and networking. Spearheading the NGO capability building programs in China, CNPON had provided a wide variety of training services, involving hundreds of organizations. Over the last decade CNPON has developed a series of capability building courses and a big pool of lecturers and has built up its brand among NGOs. In Dec 2008, the major operation of CNPON and NPI consolidated, which tremendously enhanced NPI’s strength in various NGO capacity building and assessment programs.
NPI has three pillars in the field of NGO capacity building. The first aspect is the series of training courses to satisfy the needs for individual development as well as organizational improvement. The second aspect is the research on popular social issues and pressing social problems, therefore providing Strategy Transformation services for NGOs in need. Last but not least, NPI wants to promote self-regulation and accountability among Civil Society organizations through establishing the Regulatory Framework and professional etiquette.
Therefore, NPI’s capability building program resolves into a series of specific services: Series of training courses covering all the major aspects of NGO development, including the philosophy of Civil Society, basic understanding of social enterprises and etc.; NGO IT consultancy and information sharing system; NGO internal assessment, external assessment on NGO performance, charity projects evaluation and assessment.
