NPI is emerged from the “New Civilian Movement”, referring to the growing philanthropic strength from the development of civil society. It is a no less great revolution than the raise of private sector in China after the open-up policy in 1978. Both are the ideological emancipation during social transformation. The difference is that the former one makes the Chinese people rich while the latter enlightening the social consciousness of helping and serving for others.

The core participants of this movement are social entrepreneurs and NGO practitioners. Social entrepreneurs are the innovator for society; they have keen grasps of social problems and solve them in innovative ways. They are good at converging resources sometimes even beyond their own capacities. They are content to neither giving fish to the less advantaged group, nor teaching how to fish. Social entrepreneurs will not rest until they have reformed the fishing industry. Meanwhile, the third sector needs well-trained NGO practitioners, and we believe that NGOs are not only spiritual homes for the idealists, but also the good career options for professionals.
